- The name chosen for the South Burnett - Maidenwell Astronomical Observatory was for three reasons: To identify the region of Qld; the town and what we are all about - an Astronomical Observatory involved in Tourism.
- The observatory is the largest, self funded astro-tourist facility in Queensland.
- Owner and astronomer is 64 year old James Barclay - passionate about Astronomy since he was 8.
- MAO does not have any Light Pollution thanks to Ergon Energy replacing all the old steetlights - at their expense!
- This is a full time business and our charges reflcect the service we give.
